Pilbara to Port

Renowned Australian artist Ian de Souza presents a body of en plein air paintings exploring two landscapes central to his practice: the ancient terrains of the Pilbara and the port city of Fremantle. 

Painted directly from life in Karijini National Park, these works capture the powerful colours, light and geological drama of the pindan landscape. In contrast, a series of monochrome drawings and paintings revisits the structural beauty of Fremantle, including the iconic Fremantle Bridge - a subject the artist has returned to throughout his forty-year career.
